Get Better Quicker with Laser Therapy

Get Better Quicker with Laser Therapy

This week we want to feature another one of our unique services. At Omega Project, we utilize innovative treatments that really set us apart from the rest AND get your better quicker!

When we initially get injured, think of it as a demolition site. Something gets torn down (hopefully just a small section of the interior wall and not the whole building!) and then a crew of people comes in to secure the site and clean it up. The yellow tape is the nociceptors or the chemicals that cause pain. They protect the area by keeping you from doing too much because it hurts. The clean-up crew is the inflammatory chemicals that come into the area that prepare for the rebuild, the healing.

Sometimes, in the case of chronic inflammation (think tendonitis that’s been hanging around well past its welcome), the clean-up crew gets stuck. This doesn’t allow for the repair crew to get in and do its job. This is why rest might help you feel better but your pain returns as soon as you start loading the tissue again. The full structural repair or remodel has not been completed yet.

In cases of both acute injury and chronic inflammation, we have found Laser Therapy to be very useful. Some of the cases we’ve had a lot of success with are acute tendon injuries and patients who are trying to avoid medications and/or surgery for chronic arthritis.

Laser Therapy allows your body to utilize its own healing powers by inducing a series of healing responses in your body. During treatment, you feel a soothing warmth that identifies the beginning of an 18-24 hour process of modulated cellular activity leading to decreased pain and inflammation.

Studies have shown:

  • That using Laser Therapy alongside exercise for Achilles tendinopathy can bring added benefit.
  • That Laser Therapy is a great, non-invasive treatment option to help reduce pain and inflammation related to osteoarthritis.

We always recommend a full evaluation and physical therapy treatment along with laser therapy for several reasons. We want to complete the repair process by loading the tissue with the correct exercises. We also want to find and treat the root cause of the injury. However, we have had many patients who use stand-alone Laser Therapy treatments successfully to treat their pain and injury.
